Hostels in Hong Kong

Budget accommodation, ideally suited for backpackers is offered by the Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association (HKYHA). The non-profit, independent organisation was established in 1973 and since then it provides clean and affordable accommodation spread across Hong Kong's countryside. Currently, there are seven hostels managed by HKYHA:

Typical prices for a Senior Dormitory Bed start at HK$50, with the exception of Jockey Club Mount Davis (HK$80) and Jockey Club Bradbury Lodge (HK$70). Options include single, couple and family rooms with up to six beds. The most popular Hong Kong hostel is the Jockey Club Mount Davis, as it is conveniently situated in the Western District of Hong Kong Island. Generally, all seven hostels are easily accessible from the central parts of Hong Kong with frequent shuttle bus services.

Bookings require appropriate membership card that also entitles members to access facilities in over 4,200 hostels worldwide, in over 60 countries. Reservations can be made at the HKYHA head office in Kowloon, in person or by phone during office hours at (852) 2788 1638. Alternatively an online booking facility is available at Hostelling International to which HKYHA is an affiliated member.
