Frequent bus services operated by Kowloon Motor Bus, New World First Bus and Citybus are available throughout Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Lantau Island is covered by New Lantao Bus and Long Win Bus which is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Kowloon Motor Bus Group. Travel fares are very cheap ranging from HK$1.20 to HK$45 depending on journey, but also destination names are in both English and Chinese.

Minibus Services

Minibuses are also available at a slightly higher fare. There are two types: Green minibuses operate on fixed routes; Red minibuses can be flexible dropping passengers along the route, except from where special prohibitions apply. The only drawback is that minibuses require either some knowledge of Cantonese or a high degree of familiarity with Hong Kong, making them slightly inconvenient for the ordinary tourist.
