Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is located at Chek Lap Kok on Lantau Island. HKIA ranks second in the world for international cargo throughput, but also ranks fifth busiest international passenger airport with a daily average of 750 flights from over 80 airlines, linking Hong Kong with more than 140 worldwide destinations. HKIA opened in 1998, replacing Kai Tak Airport which served Hong Kong since 1925.

Getting to Central Hong Kong
The airport is located approximately 45km from central Hong Kong; however Lantau Island is linked to the rest of Hong Kong via the world's largest the 2.2km Tsing Ma suspension bridge. The Airport Express is a high-speed train service operated by the Mass-Transit Railway (MTR), reaching central Hong Kong in less than 25 minutes. Buses offer a cheaper alternative but the journey lasts approximately an hour. Frequent bus services include the Airbus operated by Long Win Bus, City Flyer operated by Citybus and New Lantao Bus. Limousine services are available for booking via Intercontinental Car Hire and Parklane Limousine Service. Taxis are also readily available from the arrival hall pickup area and fares vary.
